I have recently moved to Sutton and I am a disabled ex service man,how do I join the club,
Hi, you can join the club by becoming a season ticket holder, this entitles you to fish the lake from May - March, day and night, and attend all members matches as well as club meetings, tickets can be purchased from our bailiffs who are around the lake everyday, or see head bailiff Rob, at 11am most days at the bailiffs hut at the lake. Regards Dave D

hi dave ,when are we all going to get together for a proper match (inc mr ellis)were going to have to sort it.well done to J for his match wins and to alan for his running of the junior matches this summer.can i also bring up a old story about the cutting of the tree on peg 1 by the carper ive not been online since it happened, "grow up idiot" whoever you are ,the lake is a credit to the club but most of all for everyone to enjoy you give other anglers a bad name if you want to do this do a survival coarse instead of angling because you are no angler.kev green

Aug 22 2009 08:03 am
i was thinking of coming fishing on the dam on sunday but there's a match on will i still be able to fish and if so what pegs?
adam
At least a dozen pegs will be available to fish, not sure what pegs will be free though. Dave
Aug 21 2009 03:36 am
betwen peg 25 & peg 26 there is an over hanging tree with signs under neath it i was jus wondering if this is a hot spot for fish and also there is tube leading into the lake near peg for are these inlet pipes and if so are they also hotspots?
No, the water is so shallow between pegs 25 & 26 so fish don't come that close in, the pipes at peg 4 no longer let water into the lake, but lots of good sized Tench have been taken by fishing close to them. Cheers Dave
Aug 15 2009 09:07 am
do you have to be a member of the aac to fish over night on the lawn?? cheers adam
Correct
Aug 6 2009 01:10 pm
Is it good for disabled. Peter Russon
Hello Peter, out of our 34 pegs, we have 3 specially designed pegs to cater for wheelchairs/disabled buggies etc, they're wider than normal, nearest to the carpark, and have a tarmac run straight to them, also 12 of our other pegs are also disabled friendly. Cheers Dave D
Aug 4 2009 10:20 am
can we fish the dam when ashfield show is on? and if so howw do we get down to there because lots of the entrances are going to be blocked off. thanks kenan and adam
Sorry Adam, the Dam will be closed during the Ashfield Show, the council's decision, not ours. Cheers Dave D
Jul 21 2009 04:28 am
hi had a walk round the pond and i noticed some signs saying no fishing from some certain pegs and i saw 2 dead carp i was just wondering if theres a problem with the carp thanks carp master
No there's nothing wrong with the Carp, the 2 deaths are just natural that all fisheries get fom time to time. The No Fishing signs at the top end of the lake are to keep anglers away from the wildlife area, in the Spring it's a place where the Swans, Coots and Mallards can nest in peace.
Cheers Dave D
Jul 6 2009 07:21 am
forgot to ask are bait boats allowed thanks j c
Bait boats are allowed, but make sure it stays in your swim only, the most you'll have to walk from the car park is 24 pegs which go round to Mickey's side, pegs 26-34, other good night pegs are 1-4, the car park is on peg 10. For membership see head bailiff Rob, who's always around, and you'll need your rod licence. Cheers Dave D

Hi Dave, just wanted to thank you and the rest of the committee for such a friendly, efficient & well-run fishery &web-site. the lake looks a picture at the moment with all the vegetation in bloom. The pegs are superb, and banks always kept immaculate. When you consider the prices of alot of these syndicates where you can still blank after 3nites/3rods, your place is a snippet and fishes as well as anywhere on its day ! Always look 4ward 2 my sessions immensely on the lawn. Had some great days and look 4ward 2 many more. WELL DONE,Regards Matt (dam regular)
Thanks for the comments Matt, see you soon. Dave D

Hi Dave, had a cracking day on the first day of the season. I'm loving the 18.7lb lake record for a Grassie, i also want to say what a cracking pond the lawn is and i recommend it to any fishermen. There is some cracking Tench, Bream, and Carp, and the pond wouldn't be nothing like it is today without the hard work of all the bailiffs, so a big thank you to you and all concerned, and i will see you soon... TIGHT LINES... Shane
Shane, well done on the Grassie record, got a feeling that'll take some beating, and thanks for the kind words about the lake. Cheers Dave
Apr 29 2009 07:16 am
Hi as i have never caught a Tench b4 for some reason, i was just wondering whats the best method, pegs, and bait to catch them on at the lawn itd be a gr8 help if you reply thnx
Hi, Tench can be caught from most pegs between May and October, but i'd try pegs 1-10 or 28-34, a light feeder or pole at about 10mtrs, try pellet or sweetcorn as bait, but they do fall to most baits, including prawns. Cheers Dave
Apr 29 2009 07:13 am
hi steve here im just wondering wich is the best peg to do some feeder fishing??
Steve, best pegs to fish feeder in summer, are 1-13,or 30-34, it's fairly shallow in most of those pegs, but that's where the fish will be while it's warmer. Cheers Dave
Apr 28 2009 07:55 am
Hi, I'm a novice in need of help and I'm told that you guys are really useful to know and don't mind a bit of a brain picking session. As a Sutton lad I would be interested in joining. Who should I be speaking to. Nice site by the way.
Regards Big Al the worm drowner
Hello Big Al, the new season on The Dam starts on Friday My 1st, and will be very busy, so lots of bailiffs will be around for most of the day and weekend, especially around 11am each day, just ask for Rob(head bailiff)and he'll give you all the information details you need.
Oh, and thanks for the comments about the website, Cheers Dave D
Apr 10 2009 08:25 am

Thanks for the comments Steve,

hi everyone, been doin my carpin all over for the past 2 years and had sum good fish to 38lb but was told the lake had sum 20lb fish and for wot ever reason dismissed this as gossip but since reviewing this site i take it all back gunna have a walk round 2moz as off work. i see the memership runs from may-but if i joined know would i get a discount or would it be full price.thanks dave green ak-carp cruiser.
Hello Dave, thanks for viewing the site, we lost a hell of a lot of photo's from Carp World, otherwise you'd have seen a lot more big Carp pics. Anyway, there are Carp in the lake well over 20lb, plus a few Koi approaching that mark, also there's a Ghostie that all the members have seen cruising around in the summer that must be 20lb, but its never been caught, so there's a traget for you.
Membership/Season tickets can be bought now from our head bailiff, which will officially start May 1st, but you will be able to use it emmidiately. Cheers Dave D(Match Secretary)

Hi guys
Just got back from another weekend at the Lawn Dam,Carp fishing.
Set up on Friday around 1:30 pm, bivvies up and rods in.
I chose peg 32 again, my son George was on peg 33, and my brother bill was on peg 31.
Looked like it was going to be a nice weekend again weather wise, and pond was in excellent condition.
My brother Bill was first of the mark with a Common Carp weighing 9.2 pound at 17:40 pm, spicey
shrimp/prawn boily did the job again.
Saturday
After watching the England match on tv YES on the tv, we sat down to a fish and chip take away, then suddenly BEEEEEPPPPPPP
My son George got a nice 1 tone run, and landed a 9.4 pound Common at 19:15 pm, then the rain started to comes down, watched x-factor and decided on an early night due to the rain, all three of us got in the bivvies for the night, (i had the tv lol)
Then at 02:05 Sunday morning my brother Bill landed a 14.4 pound mirror carp..
All in all a nice pleasant weekend, and a couple of fish to keep us busy at times, also Bill bad a 3lb+ bream, and i lost a very good Tench right near the landing net, i was disappointed with this as it looked a really good fish, and could have been my biggest tench so far
Never mind there's still time to get those big fish
Come on guys get those rods out

Hi all
Still new to the Carping world, travelled to some top Carp fisheries lately but blanked.
Sutton Lawn on my doorstep, so decided to go and have a 48 hour session on peg 32, fished 60 yds out, air rigged spicy shrimp and prawn boilie on a size 8 long shank hook, with pva bag with pellet, got plenty of hemp down to fish over, nothing during the day until around 21:30 hours, then got a 1 tone screamer landed a 12lb mirror lovely conditioned fish.
Then at 23:30 hours, got another 1 tone screamer landed a 23lb 8oz mirror (officialy weighed by Dave), glad to be told i'd got the record Carp for the lake, been told its the biggest fish to have been weighed and photographed properly, really pleased with this fish as its my new personal best, the fish was in excellent condition.
then at 00:03 another 1 tone run landed common Carp weighing in at just over 11lbs, another excellent quality fish.
Lost a few others in the time i was there.
Had a fantastic time at the Sutton Lawn fishery with my son George (13 years old)who fished peg 33 he loved it even though he never caught anything big, he had plenty of Skimmers,Roach and other bits to keep him busy on the float rod during the day, first time he's used Carping gear and now he as put a order in for his own gear.
My brother Bill also fished peg 32, plenty of runs but nothing landed, but he's a dab hand with the frying pan i can still taiste the evening currys, and the bacon and eggs for breakfast
The 6 bailifs were very helpful and pleasant people.
So come on guys lets get fishing, the pond is weed free, and in excellent order, very clean grounds, plenty of room on the banks, and car park very close to pond.
all the best till next time
